Americans For Prosperity OK Reacts To Deplorable New EPA Rules

“Administration Destroying Jobs for No Clear Environmental Benefit”

OKLAHOMA CITY – Today Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s largest grassroots advocate for free market energy policies, reacted to new carbon regulations released by the EPA, which calls for a 30 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

recent report from the US Chamber of Commerce found that the proposed rule could destroy 36,000 jobs in the region and hundreds of thousands of jobs nationally, based on its assumptions on a similar proposal by the Natural Resources Defense Council.

AFP – Oklahoma State Director John Tidwell released the following statement:

“The Obama Administration’s assault on every Oklahoman’s way of life continues. Today’s new EPA rules not only attack our personal budgets, but the bottom-line of every single business in the Sooner State.  Simply put, carbon based energy, an abundant, clean and cheap source of most Oklahoma energy is being attacked by the Obama administration.

Oklahomans will now find their monthly bills increasing a minimum of 12% to 15% — and that’s just the start. This plan is not only cost prohibitive, but it will have a profound impact on the Oklahoma economy. Whether you’re a senior citizen in Tulsa living on a fixed income or a farmer in western Oklahoma feeding your stock or irrigating your crops off of well water, ALL of our bills are about to go up.

Washington’s restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions will affect a majority of the energy we use to live, to heat and cool our homes and operate our businesses. I guess we can chalk this up as just one more job killing regulation which cuts right to the heart of Oklahoma and will hurt our way of life. The EPA has never known what’ s best for Oklahoma, and we encourage our delegation to stand up and fight these new proposed rules.”
