About 200 grassroots activists gathered on the steps of Ohio’s state capital Saturday, to deliver the message that the time has come for Ohio to stop placing burdens on its productive citizens and craft a budget that will allow Ohio to live within its means. AFP-Ohio organized the Columbus tea party which gathered on Columbus’s Capital Square outside Governor Strickland’s office.

- Lower-Income Residents Oppose Tax Hikes, Even if They Don’t Pay -

COLUMBUS ─ A new survey by the free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity finds that 60 percent of Ohio residents disapprove of the state legislature’s handling of budget and tax issues. In addition, 55 percent believe the state’s taxes are too high. When asked to identify the most important issue in state budgeting, 47 percent identified wasteful spending on programs that do not work.
