Toledo Blade: Americans for Prosperity steps up campaign against Sears
By Tom Troy
The Tea party-leaning organization Americans for Prosperity Ohio has launched an advertising campaign against state Rep. Barbara Sears (R., Monclova Township) for her support of expanding Medicaid coverage in Ohio. The group has put up billboards and mailed an oversized postcard showing President Obama juxtaposed next to Sears.
Sears, who is in the medical insurance business, is a leading Ohio advocate of Gov. John Kasich’s proposal to expand Medicaid to cover people up to the level of 138 percent, from the current 100 percent.
Said Eli Miller, spokesman for the organization: “We do not believe that expanding Medicaid, as made voluntary under ObamaCare, is in the best interest of the fiscal health of our state or the physical health of the people who would be placed into the program.”
