Fight for Health Care Freedom in Ohio Isn’t Over
COLUMBUS, OH – Americans for Prosperity – Ohio reaffirmed its commitment to full repeal of President Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in response to the Supreme Court’s decision this morning. Ohio Policy Director Seth Morgan issued the following statement:
“Today, the Supreme Court ruled that the President’s health care law is constitutional. This ruling though, does not change the fact that this reform is bad legislation. It will significantly increase our nation’s debt while making the health care situation worse for millions of Americans. It takes decisions that should rightfully be made by patients and their doctors and places that authority into the hands of Washington politicians and bureaucrats. This is a law that is destined to hurt America, not help it.”
“This law is unaffordable, irresponsible, and unaccountable; it will cost taxpayers $1.76 trillion and increase taxes by $500 billion over the next ten years. This will only hurt hardworking Ohioans already struggling to get by in a state filled with unemployment and despair.”
“The law taxes too much, spend too much, puts bureaucrats between doctors and patients, and will hurt the quality of care in the United States. Moreover, the President’s health care law gives too much power to Washington. The federal government shouldn’t be allowed to force us to buy health care that we may not want or may not be right for us.”
AFP remains committed to opposing the implementation of health care exchanges and encourages Governor Kaisch remain stalwart as well. These exchanges give federal bureaucrats control over state insurance markets and there is no meaningful control or flexibility for state lawmakers.
