Americans for Prosperity Ohio: Healthcare.gov needs security and transparency
COLUMBUS – Americans for Prosperity-Ohio is applauding the passage of the Health Exchange Security and Transparency Act of 2014. The legislation requires individuals be notified of breaches of personally identifiable information through Exchanges under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as ObamaCare.
“Recent polling suggests Americans see health care as the top problem in this country but lack confidence that the federal government can handle solving it. Those concerns are certainly justified,” said Eli Miller, Americans for Prosperity Ohio State Director. “If the Obama Administration is determined to make people purchase health insurance on a website that has been labeled a security risk, we should offer them security and attempt to protect their privacy while they are doing so. We applaud the members of the House today who voted in favor of this bill and hope that more efforts to increase the security and transparency of the healthcare.gov site will follow.”
H.R. 3811 – Health Exchange Security and Transparency Act of 2014 passed the U.S. House today by a vote of 291 to 122.
