Thank you to everyone for your hard work in defeating the proposed 67% tax hike in Gahanna.
With your help, we were able to knock on more than 4000 doors, make more than 8800 phone calls, attend a town hall meeting to show our opposition, activate our Twitter Brigade and place an op-ed on the issue.
Like too many city governments across the state, the Gahanna City Council didn’t think its residents were paying enough in taxes.
Your efforts let them know that you feel differently – residents are not revenue sources – and the 67% proposed tax increase was defeated.
The battle in Gahanna may be over for now but they will not be the last local government to look to their taxpayers to fund spending increases or avoid making necessary budget cuts or consolidations.
As Reynoldsburg Council President Doug Joseph said, “The idea that raising taxes is the only way to fund this city is ridiculous.”
If you agree, I hope you’ll continue to join us in our efforts to promote economic freedom and lower taxes across the state!
