On Monday Governor Kasich will release his budget proposal for the state. We will be closely monitoring the proposal for any unnecessary increases in taxes and spending.

We have already isolated one such item in the proposed budget submitted by the Public Safety Department to Governor Kasich. Within the submission is a proposal that would recall millions of Ohio license plates forcing motorists to incur a fee for a new plate. The proposal would also require Ohio drivers to pay a $10 fee to replace their license plates every seven years. We adamantly oppose this imposition that would cost OH motorists millions of dollars and have urged Governor Kasich to NOT include this in his budget proposal. Luckily it looks like this unnecessary increase in fees will not become a reality. You can read more about it HERE. We will continue to keep you updated on the proposal.

In addition, we recently weighed in against a possible increase in the county sales tax in Franklin County. We strongly believe that merely taking more from the budgets of families throughout Franklin County is not an acceptable solution and have urged the Franklin County Commissioners to change policies and spending habits instead. You can read more about it HERE.

As you know, these types of tax and fee increases are not isolated to the state budget or Franklin County. If you know of a similar issue in your community, please contact us at infoOH@afphq.org.

Thank you for all you do to increase economic freedom and prosperity in our state!
