COLUMBUS – Americans for Prosperity Ohio is reacting to the 2014 State Business Tax Climate Index released today by the non-partisan Tax Foundation. The release lists Ohio at 39th overall in terms of state business tax climate.
“This report demonstrates that we have more work to do in Ohio to increase the competitiveness of our business climate which is essential to attracting new employers and encouraging the ones already here to grow their businesses,” said Eli Miller, Americans for Prosperity Ohio State Director.
The Tax Foundation report indicates that Ohio ranks 23rd in corporate tax rank and 44th in individual income tax rank.
“While the 2014-2015 budget passed earlier this year made great strides toward making our business climate more competitive, more remains to be done,” continued Miller. “Taxes matter to businesses and impact their decisions to move, hire and expand. Our elected officials should continue pursuing efforts that make our tax code simpler and that encourage businesses to set up shop in Ohio.”
