COLUMBUS – Americans for Prosperity Ohio is commenting on President Obama’s visit to the state today. The President is scheduled to visit the ArcelorMittal steel mill in Cleveland today and provide remarks on the economy.
“As the October unemployment numbers demonstrated, for far too many Americans, 59 months of unemployment above 7 percent has made being out of work a ‘new normal.’ In addition, labor force participation was down again, now to 62.8%,” said Eli Miller, Americans for Prosperity Ohio State Director. “For those with jobs, there is evidence that wages are stagnant, meaning more Ohio families are just getting by – rather than getting ahead or moving up. This is simply unacceptable. More Americans are obviously feeling the same way as is reflected in the President’s current approval ratings.”
A new Quinnipiac University survey released shows that President Obama’s approval rating among American voters has dropped to its lowest number since he became President. Currently only 39% of voters approve of how he is handling his job, while 54% disapprove.
With regard to ObamaCare, according to the survey only 19% of respondents believe the quality of their health care will improve in the next year while 43% percent say it will get worse, and 33% say ObamaCare won’t affect their health care.
“Multiple reports have shown that Obamacare is causing premiums to skyrocket, meaning that families’ discretionary incomes are even more limited,” continued Miller. “The economy continues to tread water at a time when Americans need to see significant strides forward. It is time to loosen the grip of bureaucrats and regulators, take the IRS’ hands out of the pockets of our hard-working families and businesses, and lift the burdens laws like Obamacare are clearly imposing.”
