Tax Reform Plans Makes NC a Great Place to Retire
By Timothy Wilson
In addition to getting North Carolina back in the game with jobs, the historic tax reform plans moving through the NC General Assembly gets NC back in the game by making the state a great place for people to settle down and retire.
This is because both the NC House and Senate tax plans eliminates the estate tax which is more commonly known as the death tax. Once the death tax is repealed in NC, it would be retroactive to January 1st, 2013, meaning that the law applies to descendants who have died after that date.
The potential elimination of the estate tax in NC was featured in a June 13th Forbes online article, Where Not To Die In 2013 Update.
The article mentions that only 19 states would have estate or inheritance taxes after NC eliminates its death tax and provides an interactive map of where not to die in 2013.
