Americans for Prosperity Dissapointed with Dix Deal Decision

December 04, 2012

RALEIGH, NC – Americans for Prosperity – North Carolina, the state’s leading watchdog for taxpayers against special deals and wasteful spending, issued the following statement in response to the Council of State’s decision to approve Governor Perdue’s deal with the Dix property:

“We are disappointed with the actions of the majority on the council of state. Today they did not protect the interests of state taxpayers or the mentally ill.

We will immediately be contacting the leadership of the General Assembly and ask them to exercise oversight of this “dirty dix” land deal.

We thank Commissioner Berry, Commissioner Troxler, and Auditor Wood for standing up for state taxpayers.

All options, including de-annexation of the property, should be on the table to stop this robbing of state taxpayers.”
