AFP REACTS TO PRESIDENT OBAMA'S BUDGET PROPOSAL
FY 2015 spends and taxes too much, without vital reforms to entitlements
Arlington, Va. — Today Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s foremost advocate for economic freedom, announced its opposition to President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2015 budget proposal, which calls for over $50 billion in additional federal spending.
“The President’s budget proposal is not a serious attempt to solve our nation’s fiscal problems,” AFP President Tim Phillips said. “The President is advocating higher federal spending and higher taxes, while ignoring our country’s greatest, long-term financial threat: unsustainable entitlement spending.
“Once again, President Obama has produced a budget that doesn’t balance, runs annual deficits, and relies on partisan politics, instead of a fiscally responsible, pro-growth tax policy.
“To make matters worse, the President released this budget a month late, signaling that he’s just not interested in getting D.C. spending under control. The idea that the Obama administration has ushered in an ‘age of austerity’ is laughable, especially with repeated evidence from the CBO that these trends of growing debt and deficits will continue. The American people deserve better.”
