New Americans for Prosperity Ad: Kay Hagan Just Doesn’t Get it
NC Woman Explains How She Lost her Coverage Because of ObamaCare
Raleigh, NC – Americans for Prosperity has launched the third in a series of television ads that put pressure on Senator Kay Hagan to change her position on the Affordable Care Act – also known as Obamacare. The ad features a woman who lost her health insurance due to the new law and now is paying more for a new plan, despite Kay Hagan’s promise that people who liked their insurance could keep it.
“After the infamous “you can keep your plan” promise, the increased premium costs and botched website launch, Senator Hagan continues to be supportive of President Obama’s health care law,” said Donald Bryson, AFP-North Carolina’s policy specialist.
Bryson continued, “More than 470,000 North Carolinians had to have their insurance plans reinstated, only to pay more for the same plan, due to this disastrous law. People literally have to pay more for the same plan, and it’s all because of Senator Hagan’s vote. Senator Hagan still says she would ‘vote for it again,’ despite the disastrous effects of this law. That is why we are educating North Carolinians on the issue and holding the Senator accountable.”
In mid-December, Senator Hagan told Politico, “Yeah, I would vote for it again,” when pressed on her support of the Affordable Care Act.
Americans for Prosperity’s ad highlights the story of North Carolina resident Sheila Salter. The ad is part of a nationwide wave of ads released by AFP and airs across the state.
