AFP Holding Politicians Accountable with New ObamaCare Ad Effort

Arlington, VA — Today Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s largest advocate for health care freedom, announced the launch of a new series of TV, radio, and web ads that highlight lawmakers’ history of support or opposition to ObamaCare. The first wave of TV ads starts today in Florida, Arizona, California, and Colorado, and will run for the next three weeks.

“Legislators who have consistently stood against ObamaCare deserve to be thanked for doing the right thing, and those responsible for bringing about this debacle need to be held accountable,” said AFP President Tim Phillips. “The result of ObamaCare so far has been diminished choice and higher premiums, accompanied by an astonishingly inept rollout that perfectly exemplifies the inefficiency of Big Government.”

This round of TV ads will thank Representatives Southerland (FL-2) and Coffman (CO-6) for steadfastly opposing ObamaCare, and criticize Representatives Peters (CA-52) and Barber (AZ-2) for supporting the law. The cable and network TV spots will be supported by radio and web ads, as well as robust grassroots action in the districts that includes door-to-door canvassing and phone banking.

“AFP has been consistently fighting ObamaCare on the airwaves and on the ground since it passed,” continued Phillips. “We’re sending a message that politicians will be held accountable when they go against the will of the American people, and that we will support them for doing the right thing. This is a long-term effort – we’re fighting for full repeal.”

Over the summer, AFP carried out a multi-million dollar effort with a series of four TV ads that highlighted the negative impact of Obamacare on individuals.

This latest round of ads also highlights the group’s Exempt Me, Too! message, reminding activists to tell lawmakers we can do better than ObamaCare. Hundreds of thousands of AFP activists have already signed a petition at justexempt.me, asking the President for the same special treatment that Big Business and the well-connected have already begun enjoying under the law.
