AFP applauds NC Senate Leader Berger for Stopping Corrupt Perdue Deal

AFP North Carolina State Director Dallas Woodhouse issued the following statement:

“Americans for Prosperity applauds State Senator Phil Berger for stopping the corrupt taxpayer fleecing once known as “Project Soccer.” This deal was corrupt on its face. The project would have enriched Governor Perdue’s supporters while leaving taxpayers with the bill. The fact that Governor Perdue is so reckless with taxpayer money and so little concerned with ethics should concern all North Carolina citizens.

Furthermore, we hope this controversy sparks a new conversation about the crony capitalism that surrounds North Carolina’s expensive and ineffective corporate incentives program. It is time to lower tax rates across the board and reduce regulations to make a better business environment, instead of having the Governor clumsily trying to pick the winners and losers.”
