AFP Responds to October Jobs Report
Over 12 million Americans still out of work. Broader unemployment rate 14.6%
ARLINGTON, VA – Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s leading advocate for economic freedom, responds to today’s job report with the following statement.
“Reckless spending, higher debt and ever-higher taxes are not helping Americans get back to work,” explained Tim Phillips, President of AFP. “The same big government economic policies pushed by the Obama Administration for the past four years continue to fail Americans today. The unemployment rate has been higher for longer under Obama than during the last 11 Presidents combined.”
Last month in connection with the jobs report AFP released a new ad “The Dinner Table.” The ad, which can be seen here, powerfully highlights the anxiety and frustration of the 12.3 million Americans who are still unemployed.
171,000 jobs were created in October. 12.3 million Americans are unemployed with 5 million of those having been unemployed for more than 27 weeks.
“With 171,000 jobs added last month, the Great Recession job gap won’t be closed until 2024,” Phillips continued.
