AFP Comments on Halbig v. Burwell
Arlington, Va. – Today Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s foremost grassroots advocate for health care freedom, commented on the Halbig v. Burwell ruling handed down this morning by the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
The US Court of Appeals ruled this morning that the Obama administration is breaking the law by spending federal tax dollars without congressional authorization to finance parts of the Affordable Care Act.
AFP President Tim Phillips said the following:
“Under the Affordable Care Act, Americans have experienced some of the worst federal overreach in recent history, and today’s ruling is further evidence that the Obama administration needs to be reined in. Our country was built on a system of checks and balances. No White House – Democrat or Republican – should unilaterally bypass Congress, manipulate laws, and change how they are enforced.”
AFP has led a five-year effort to relieve Americans of the burdens of ObamaCare since its inception in Congress. Activists across the country have signed online petitions, organized phone banks and neighborhood walks, rallied at state capitols, and reached out to their lawmakers to urge them to repeal ObamaCare.
