Americans for Prosperity and American Energy Alliance Launches Energy for America Tour

October 17, 2011

Tour Will Cross the Nation Calling for Domestic Resource Development & Job Creation

Arlington, VA – Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s premier grassroots mobilizing group, in conjunction with American Energy Alliance (AEA) and the Institute for Energy Research, will launch its nationwide Energy for America tour today in Columbia, Missouri. This tour will educate and engage citizens about America’s massive natural resource base and highlight policies that would lower the cost of energy and help create jobs and economic prosperity.

“The United States faces major challenges right now, and President Obama’s response is a $40 billion energy tax grab that will destroy jobs, decrease government revenues, and diminish our economic competitiveness and energy security. The last thing America needs is another failed stimulus. America needs a pro-growth, pro-revenue energy policy that would create over a million new jobs, grow the economy, and generate hundreds of billions of dollars in government revenue,” said Tim Phillips, President of Americans for Prosperity.

The Energy for America tour is all about reducing the burden of energy prices on families by encouraging domestic exploration and production of our vast energy resources and getting government out of the free market – taxpayers should never have been on the hook for companies like Solyndra.

“America is an energy-rich nation. Unfortunately President Obama and the EPA have placed most of our energy resources off-limits, opting instead for America to be reliant on other nations for energy. It is time to take a stand and demand access to our own energy resources,” Phillips continued.

The Energy America tour will kick off in Missouri and continue through Nebraska, Montana, Colorado, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ohio. To learn more please visit www.EnergyforAmerica.org.
