AFP Op-Ed: N.J.'s Proposed Bio-based Heating Oil Act Is Bad Energy Policy
The following AFP op-ed appeared in the Times of Trenton.
Economist Milton Friedman once said, “Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.”
And therein lies the problem with our Legislature’s endless manipulations in the energy sector, from offshore wind subsidies to cap and trade to the fees embedded in our electricity bills.
Rather than allowing consumers to make rational choices about what is in their interests and the interests of society, many in the Legislature feel they must compel us to act as they wish for the “greater good.” Put another way: “Big brother knows best.”
