AFP-NJ Reacts To New EPA Rules
AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY REACTS TO NEW EPA RULES
Time for Our Congressional Delegation to Stand Up for New Jerseyans
MONMOUTH JUNCTION – Americans for Prosperity – New Jersey is calling on the Congressional delegation to stand up to the new carbon dioxide regulations released by the EPA, which demands a 30 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
A recent report from the US Chamber of Commerce found that the proposed rule could result in the loss of 14,000 jobs in the region, hundreds of thousands of jobs nationally, and $7.5 million in lost economic activity each year, based on its assumptions on a similar proposal by the Natural Resources Defense Council.
AFP – New Jersey State Director Daryn Iwicki released the following statement:
“President Obama and the EPA may be patting themselves on the back for doing the bidding of the radical environmentalist movement, but New Jersey residents and job creators will feel the pain for years to come. New Jerseyans know all too well that these kinds of burdensome regulations and cap-and-trade schemes like RGGI are all pain with no gain. Levying what amounts to a tax on energy will destroy jobs and erode our quality of life.”
“This EPA power grab represents an assault on our economy and the economic well-being of every New Jerseyan—particularly those less well-off who are hit hardest by higher energy prices. AFP calls on the New Jersey Congressional delegation to stand up to this outrageous regulatory overreach and protect our residents from the unnecessary economic pain this will inflict on them.”
