“False Choice”? There’s “No Choice”
BOGOTA, NJ – Americans for Prosperity, New Jersey’s leading pro-taxpayer group, is praising Gov. Christie for his commitment to cutting taxes and getting our economy moving again.
During last night’s appearance on NJ 101.5’s “Ask the Governor” program, Governor Christie took issue with the Democratic leadership in Trenton for obstructing his tax cut proposal, while casting their position as a “false choice”:
“…the Democrats set up a false choice. The false choice is that the only way that we can cut taxes is if revenue increases. What they don’t understand is the only way revenue is going to increase is for us to stimulate the private sector economy in this state and the way to do that, in my view, is lower taxes and lower regulation.”
AFP state director Daryn Iwicki echoed Gov. Christie’s sentiments and pledged the group’s support for his proposal to lower taxes and grow the Garden State’s economy:
“AFP commends Gov. Christie for taking a common sense approach to our fiscal issues and continuing to push for much-needed tax relief in New Jersey. The Governor is right to call out the Democratic leadership for their ‘false choice’ but the reality is New Jersey has no choice.
“New Jersey can either continue down the big-government, tax-and-spend path—or we can start to rein in Trenton and unleash our private sector to provide opportunity, create jobs, and usher in a new era of prosperity.
“Democrats in Trenton have had their way for the better part of a decade. Today, by any measure the state is in worse shape now than when they took over. It’s time they work with the Governor as they promised and do something for the struggling middle class taxpayers they claim to care about. It’s time they throw their support behind the Governor’s plan to cut taxes and stimulate economic growth.
“AFP will likewise support the Governor and any legislators who are ready and willing to provide long-suffering New Jersey taxpayers the relief they deserve.”
