ObamaCare Medicaid Expansion Moves To NJ Senate

The Senate Budget & Appropriations Committee moved the ObamaCare Medicaid expansion (S2644) yesterday setting the stage for a full vote in the senate likely before the summer recess.

Voting in favor were:

Paul Sarlo (D-36) – Chair   
Brian Stack (D-33) – Vice-Chair   
Jennifer Beck (R-11)   
Sandra B. Cunningham (D-31)   
Linda R. Greenstein (D-14)
Nellie Pou (D-35)   
Teresa Ruiz (D-29)   
Loretta Weinberg (D-37)

Voting against were

Kip Bateman (R-16)
Kevin J. O’Toole (R-40)   
Steven Oroho (R-24)   
Joseph Pennacchio (R-26) 

There was one abstention from Jeff Van Drew (D-01).

AFP testified against the bill, pointing out that the expansion is expected to cost New Jersey $1.5B over the first ten years and add to the state’s growing debt.

The NJ Assembly has yet to take up a companion bill on the ObamaCare Medicaid expansion. AFP will keep you posted as to when the bill is taken up in committee.
