ObamaCare Costs 850,000 New Jerseyans Their Health Insurance Plan

October 07, 2013

“If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period…. No one will take it away. No matter what.” –President Obama

Call it a false promise, call it an outright lie…either way thousands of Americans across the country are finding out the stone-cold truth: ObamaCare means they won’t be able to keep their plan.

This reality is hitting New Jerseyans hard where 800,000 people in the individual and small-employer markets and another 50,000 seniors under the Medicare Advantage program are getting notices from their carriers that they will be dropping their existing coverage in order to comply with ObamaCare’s mandates. Via the Star-Ledger:

Hundreds of thousands of New Jerseyans opened the mail last week to find their health insurance plan would no longer exist in 2014 because it does not cover all the essential benefits required by the Affordable Care Act.

The 800,000 people in the individual and small-employer markets will be booted to the bureaucratic federally run exchange — where significantly higher premiums and a DMV-like experience await them.
