Americans for Prosperity activists enjoyed a meeting with Gov. Christie, highlighting Thursday’s “Navigating Under the Dome” event in Trenton. The governor was gracious enough to invite AFP’s delegation for a special meeting in his State House office where he addressed the group and fielded a number of questions. AFP thanks the governor for taking a few minutes from his busy schedule to speak to AFP activists.
The “Navigating Under the Dome” grassroots training event drew more than 100 activists from across the state, all of whom were eager to learn how to influence the legislative process. Guest speakers included Frank Parisi of the Office of Legislative Services who discussed OLS’ role in drafting legislation. Lou Crescitelli, Chief of Staff for Asw. Alison McHose (R-24), who provided some tips and perspective from the point of view of legislators. And Asw. Holly Schepisi (R-39), who addressed our group during our luncheon in the State House.
AFP Field Director Laquan Austion talked about testifying before committees. Communications Director Mike Proto explained how to best use the state legislative website while also unveiling the Midterm Taxpayer Scorecard for the current legislative session.
All in all, a terrific day of activism and a signal to Trenton lawmakers that the conservative movement will be a force in the State House in the days ahead!
