Focus for Monday will be on the Senate Environment and Energy Committee where new open space legislation will be introduced that will cost taxpayers $8 BILLION and possibly far more. SEE BELOW TO TAKE ACTION!
Bill SCR84 would amend the constitution to dedicate 6% in corporate tax revenues for open space from FY ’16-FY ’45. Given past history of 3.5% revenue growth, if the State were to set aside 6% a year in corporate tax receipts, this would amount to $8.28 BILLION. If revenues were to grow at 6.7% a year, the amount estimated in the Governor’s FY ’15 budget proposal, then $14.8 BILLION would be amassed! SCR84 would supplant SCR2 which called for $6 BILLION in sales tax revenue to be used for open space for the next 30 years, but has failed to gain support in the Legislature.
AFP urges activists to contact members of the committee now to urge a NO vote on SCR84.
