Maggie Hassan is “Open” to Higher Taxes

October 12, 2012

WINDHAM – Americans for Prosperity-NH is releasing a statewide radio ad today detailing Maggie Hassan’s willingness to raise taxes and downshift increased spending to local property tax payers in the state.

The ad details Hassan’s statement in a Portsmouth Press Herald article indicating her openness to supporting an income tax as well as her record of increasing state spending.

“Maggie Hassan increased state spending by 24% in four years,” said Corey R. Lewandowski, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire. “Her spending spree required nearly 100 new or increased taxes to be imposed on the people of NH.”

“Rather than make tough state budget decisions, Maggie Hassan chose to cut local aid and shift the burdens of her increased spending to local communities who were forced to increase property taxes or cut services,” continued Lewandowski.  “New Hampshire residents simply cannot afford any more of Hassan’s tax increases or spending sprees.”
