Americans for Prosperity-NH Response to State of the Union Address

February 13, 2013

WINDHAM – Americans for Prosperity New Hampshire State Director, Corey R. Lewandowski, released the following statement on tonight’s State of the Union address.

“To President Obama, a ‘balanced approach’ means real tax hikes now and fake spending cuts that never happen,” said Corey R. Lewandowski, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire.  “When President Obama raised taxes on millions of Americans, we saw it in our paychecks immediately. But these spending cuts President Obama keeps touting never seem to take effect. Big government spending has massively accelerated under President Obama, and the skyrocketing national debt proves it.”

The national debt when President Obama took office was $10.6 trillion (January 20, 2009). The national debt as of February 8, 2013 is $16.5 trillion.

“Earlier this year President Obama raised taxes on millions of Americans through the payroll tax and fiscal cliff deal.  Now he is using ‘balanced approach’ rhetoric to raise taxes even more. But no amount of tax hikes will be enough if the government refuses to stop overspending,” Lewandowski continued.
