Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire: RGGI Bill a Step in the Right Direction
WINDHAM – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) New Hampshire is calling the Governor’s decision to allow HB 1490 to become law without his signature today a step in the right direction. HB 1490, which initially sought to end NH’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), was amended to allow for removal from the program if other states withdraw first while restructuring the way RGGI funds are allocated.
“We believe HB 1490 which became law today is a step in the right direction and will provide much-needed relief for NH ratepayers who have been burdened by this cap-and-trade program for too long,” said Corey Lewandowski, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire.
The NH House and Senate passed the compromise version of HB 1490 earlier this month.
“We are pleased that Governor Lynch has finally realized the failure of the RGGI program and look forward to New Hampshire’s eventual withdrawal from RGGI under a Republican governor,” Lewandowski added.
