Americans for Prosperity Launches Website Calling for President to Give All Americans the Same ObamaCare Exemptions that Special Interests Get

September 10, 2013

Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) today announced the launch of www.JustExempt.me, a website collecting petitions calling on the Obama administration to offer exemption from ObamaCare to average Americans from the tax hikes, reduced access and increased premiums included in the health care reform law.  The administration has given exemptions to numerous groups, including members of Congress, labor unions and employers in Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s congressional district.

“When the unions came to the President to ask for an exemption from ObamaCare, he gave it to them,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director.  “When members of Congress said they needed a subsidy, he gave them one.  When big insurance companies said they needed relief from a cap in out-of-pocket costs in ObamaCare, the President obliged.  Now it’s time for the President to show the same level of concern for hard-working American families who are left holding the bag with the higher taxes, more expensive health insurance and reduced access that he has shown these special interests.  We encourage everyone who is going to be stuck dealing with the consequences of this misguided and flawed law to sign the petition and send a clear message to President Obama that all Americans deserve relief from ObamaCare, not just the politically well-connected.”

Americans for Prosperity initiated this effort to collect signatures to present to the administration to convince the President that the entirety of the law should be delayed, not simply pieces opposed by powerful lobbies.

“The President has shown a clear willingness either to delay or set aside pieces of ObamaCare when there is clear opposition,” added Moore.  “We need the citizens of New Hampshire to speak up and demand that the huge impact of this law on our wallets and on our access to the doctors and hospitals of our choice – as we were promised by the President – is enough reason to delay this law until we can get it right.  It’s time for the President to work with Congress on a law that starts to live up to the promises that he made when he was trying to sell this bill.  We need an end to the broken promises, and need to focus on a health care system that improves quality, lowers costs and doesn’t have government interfering with the doctor-patient relationship.”
