Help Us Preserve Political Free Speech Today!

May 09, 2012 J

The NH Senate is slated to vote on several important pieces of legislation TODAY including HB 1704, which includes an amendment that would make it more difficult for AFP-NH and other groups to put out information that might be deemed critical of elected officials.

This amendment is a direct assault on our free speech!

I urge you to contact your Senator IMMEDIATELY and let him or her know that you oppose this amendment to HB 1704! You can find your Senator and their contact information by CLICKING HERE.

Also today, the Senate is expected to vote on HB 1560, the Health Care Compact. Unfortunately, the Senate Health and Human Services Committee has recommended Interim Study for HB 1560. If the Senate at large agrees with the Committee’s recommendation, the bill will die.

You can read more about the bill and AFP-NH’s efforts to support the Health Care Compact and oppose Health Care Exchanges HERE.

Additionally, the Senate may take up HB 1418, which would increase the threshold amounts for taxation under the Business Enterprise Tax (BET).

On the House side this week, legislators will be working on SB 295 which would increase the research and development tax credit against the BET and SB 203 updating state laws regarding limited liability corporations or LLCs.

We will continue to keep you apprised of all the legislative developments as this session comes to a close and we prepare our Legislative Score Card for the year.
