February 14, 2012 J

By Ryan O’Connor – February 14

As a special Valentine’s Day treat, we’ve thrown in an extra announcement to today’s 5 Things.

1. Happy Valentines Day! In case you haven’t checked it out yet, we have a full Valentine’s Day Guide full of great last-second local getaway and gift ideas, as well as some fantastic recipes you can whip up with quickness and ease for the one you love.

2. Going to be out of town for one of the three remaining 2012 elections? The Town of Bedford has absentee ballots available for the upcoming town and school elections on March 13, the state elections on Sept. 11 and the general/presidential election on Nov. 6.

3. Bedford Republicans Unite. Bedford GOP members hold a 7:30 p.m. meeting today downstairs at the Bedford Public Library. Corey R. Lewandowski, State Director of Americans for Prosperity NH, will be the guest speaker tonight.

4. The weather man says … Despite the fact Weather.com is predicting a cloudy Valentine’s day in Bedford, temperatures rising into the high 40s should put a smile on Cupid’s face and create a very comfortable environment for love birds to enjoy.

5. Academic Achievement of the Day. Michael Bachner, son of Gerald and Patricia Bachner of Bedford, a sophomore Health major, was named to the Dean’s List at Ithaca College’s School of Health Sciences and Human Performance for the fall 2011 semester. Have your own achievement or announcement you’d like to featured here? Email Ryan.OConnor@Patch.com.
6. Bulldog Bites. The following is a schedule (provided by HighSchoolSports.net) of all BHS athletics events for the day: 9:30AM G V Alpine Skiing @ D-II State Championships
