Americans for Prosperity Unveils Website, Begins Online Ad Campaign to Highlight Impact of ObamaCare Medicaid Expansion

September 25, 2013

MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) announced a website and online advertising campaign that starts today to bring attention to the negative impact of ObamaCare Medicaid expansion in New Hampshire.  The website ( and ads highlight several of the negative consequences of expanding the Medicaid program under the Affordable Care Act, or ObamaCare, including longer wait times for doctors and seeing over 20,000 individuals dumped from high quality private health insurance to a lower quality Medicaid program.

“Medicaid expansion under ObamaCare means that the quality of health care will drop for New Hampshire residents,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director.  “Not only will more than 20,000 of our friends and neighbors lose their high quality insurance they get from work to get dumped into a substandard Medicaid program, but all of us will suffer with longer waits to see doctors.  The diagnosis is clear – ObamaCare Medicaid expansion is the wrong prescription for New Hampshire.”

In addition to the implications for quality of care for New Hampshire, the website also highlights the financial consequences to the state of expanding the Medicaid program.

“The U.S. House eliminated funding for Medicaid expansion in its budget and last year, President Obama dropped the high level of federal funding in his budget proposal last year,” added Moore.  “It’s just a matter of time before the federal government reneges on its commitment of high funding for expansion with one more ObamaCare broken promise and state taxpayers will be left holding the bag.  As the initial cost of expanding Medicaid is over $350 million per year, this would put New Hampshire on the path to an income tax.  If we are going to stay a tax free state, the last thing we need is ObamaCare Medicaid expansion.”
