Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) is reacting to President Obama’s speech today on jobs and the economy, highlighting that the President’s current rhetoric offers little more than a recitation of previous promises that have gone unfulfilled and do not match the reality of the economic situation facing the country. The President made the remarks, which AFP-NH is dubbing his economic reboot 5.0, at Knox College, in Galesburg, Ill.
“The President’s big government agenda has failed everyone except for big government,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director. “The President has presided over one of the slowest economic recoveries in the history of our nation and his empty and repetitious promises are of little solace to the 40,000 residents of this state who are looking for work.”
AFP-NH noted that the American people were promised that increased federal spending would stimulate the economy, grow jobs and get America back on track. That promise has failed to be delivered on by the administration’s own standards. A positive trend in the unemployment rate is attributed almost entirely to a reduction in the labor force participation rate, not more people finding jobs.
“While too many of his economic promises have gone unfulfilled, President Obama has managed to oversee the massive healthcare take-over known as ObamaCare which will increase premiums and doctor shortages,” added Moore. “This burdensome federal intrusion will only hamper the efforts of hard-working families already struggling to get by and make due with less. President Obama has had 5 years to demonstrate the benefits of his political promises and no one has benefitted but big government. It’s time for policies that will make health care more affordable and jobs easier to find for all Americans.”
