Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire Calls Out House Votes to Hike Heating Oil Tax by 25% as Part of War on Energy Consumers

March 27, 2013

MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) today called out the vote by the New Hampshire House to increase the heating oil tax by 25%.

“Coming on the heels of the vote to increase the gas and diesel tax by 67%, this is one more assault in the War on Energy Consumers being waged by the New Hampshire House,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director.  “Added to the inability to repeal the cap-and-trade tax on electric consumers known as RGGI, this means that the House is moving to have our citizens pay more to drive their cars, turn on their lights and heat their homes.”

The House voted 194-156 to pass HB 185, which increased the tax on heating oil going to the Fuel Oil Discharge Cleanup Fund.

“New Hampshire residents need relief from among the highest costs of energy in the country, not more outrageous and regressive taxes on the public,” added Moore.
