Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) released the following statement in response to today’s ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that home-care workers in Illinois do not have to pay agency fees to the public employees unions. The court ruled that collecting the fees violates the First Amendment rights of workers who are not union members.
“In New Hampshire state employees have been forced to pay agency fees whether they associate with a union or not,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director. “We are pleased that today the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that collecting these agency fees and forcing this association upon public sector employees is a violation of those workers’ First Amendment rights. This is a significant step in the fight for worker freedom and a victory for all public sector employees.”
