AFP-Nevada Launches Save North Las Vegas Initiative
LAS VEGAS – Americans for Prosperity of Nevada, the state and nation’s premier advocate of economic freedom, today launched a multi-platform public education initiative to address the financial crisis threatening the City of North Las Vegas and its residents.
“The City of North Las Vegas and its residents face a tipping point: immediate and drastic measures must be taken before the June 1 deadline to avert the pending layoffs and potential risk to public safety,” said Adam Stryker, AFP-Nevada State Director. “It is time for the unions to return to the bargaining table to become partners in the solution to save North Las Vegas.”
An independent third party survey was launched to 10,000 North Las Vegas homes on Wednesday evening, yielding striking results:
• 96% of respondents believe the unions should return to the bargaining table to negotiate with the city.
• 87% of respondents believe the city should not award pay raises during an economic recession.
• 74% of respondents believe the unions should freeze pay.
• 68 % of respondents believe union employees make too much money.
Stryker says it is critical for citizens to take action before it is too late. “The very existence of the City of North Las Vegas is in jeopardy. The residents of North Las Vegas have the chance to influence the process and ultimately save their city.”
