Grand Island: Spending Tax Dollars on Lincoln Lobbying Firm

March 29, 2013

Last Thursday we told you about the Grand Island city council considering spending your tax dollars on a lobbyist to lobby the state government.

As it turns out, this past Tuesday the city council decided to spend up to $68,000 on lobbying.

Recently, the Grand Island Independent ran an Op-Ed, Municipal lobbyists are a false solution for G.I., by our Deputy Director, Matt Litt.

Grand Island may now be a “major player” in the state as Councilman Mitch Nickerson suggests, but that doesn’t excuse any city: Omaha, Lincoln, and others, from wastefully spending taxpayer dollars on lobbyists.

The “major player” citizens want is one that is a good steward with their tax dollars, not one that wastes it.
