Fight a Sales Tax Increase in Seward!
March 05, 2013
As stated in the Seward Independent last week, the Seward city council is hosting a public hearing tonight at 7:00 PM on a ballot measure to increase local sales tax from 1% to 1.5%.
Contact information for the Seward City Council is available here.
According to the state auditor’s website, the Seward budget, i.e., operating expenses for general government, public safety, public works, public health & social services, culture & recreation, and community development, has increased $6.49 million over the last 10 years. That is a 127% increase!
.
Please attend the public hearing and let the council know that spending by the Seward city government is already too high and that you do not want a tax increase on the ballot.
