AFP Slams Bob Kerrey's Tax Plan

June 13, 2012

Lincoln, NE – Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska, the state’s largest advocate for free market enterprise with over 35,000 members, issued the following statement regarding Bob Kerrey’s plan to raise taxes.

“Bob Kerrey has repeatedly pledged to raise taxes.  To criticize AFP for telling the truth about his tax policy is unfortunate and misleading,” said state director Brad Stevens.

“We reject out of hand the notion Americans do not pay enough in taxes.  The federal government will take in over $2.6 trillion in revenue in 2012. That is 16.6% of GDP and on its current trend will be as high as 20% of GDP in six years.  The problem is not revenue, the problem is spending.  We spend more than we take in.  We encourage Bob Kerrey to offer real proposals to cut spending,” said Stevens.
