AFP Applauds Sen. Lautenbaugh’s Education Reform Proposals
*OPS Board has failed to provide leadership, reform necessary to restore confidence*
LINCOLN, NE – Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska, a statewide free market advocacy organization, strongly supports Sen. Scott Lautenbaugh’s recently announced education reform package.
“Nebraskans deserve greater choice in how their children are educated. Sen. Lautenbaugh’s proposal will give families, students and teachers greater flexibility and opportunities to provide every Nebraskan with a quality education,” said state director Brad Stevens.
“The recent events in Omaha Public Schools demonstrate that the Board and top administrators have failed to provide accountability, transparency and leadership to students, teachers and Omaha’s taxpayers. Reform legislation proposed by Sen. Lautenbaugh to cap administrator pay will go a long way in controlling costs and stabilizing public confidence in OPS,” said Stevens.
Americans for Prosperity looks forward to working with Sen. Lautenbaugh to ensuring the success of these important education reform proposals in the upcoming legislative session.
