Currently state senators are bemoaning the idea of significant tax relief for middle class Nebraskans as unaffordable. They argue that since state tax revenue is not projected to increase in the coming year, it would be irresponsible to pass Gov. Heinemans $130 million tax relief package.
It is irresponsible not to pass tax relief for Nebraska families and small businesses.
Did you know that state spending will increase by 2.7% over a two-year average from 2011-2013? While that is remarkably low compared to other states and acknowledging that state government has made significant cuts to spending in recent years; the fact is overall spending continues to increase.
Nebraskans want overall spending to go down, not up.
AFP-Nebraska activists oppose Sen. Karpisek's LB 1076, legislation that would limit public input before local boards and commissions.
Nebraska small business owner Seth Brauning was one of those activists who testified before the Legislature's Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.
Below is Seth's excellent testimony:
Good afternoon, Mr. Chairman and members of the Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committee: My name is Seth Brauning. That is spelled S-E-T-H - B-R-A-U-N-I-N-G. I am part owner of a small business here in Nebraska and I am testifying as a citizen that is very concerned about the LB1076 legislation that is before us today.
I am in favor of the intent behind bill, 1076, but the way it is currently written will cause great harm to my First Amendment rights with the limiting and restricting of public input. The changes that are being proposed to the Open Meetings Act are detrimental for two reasons.
Bob Kerrey has changed his mind and is returning to Nebraska after all.
Unfortunately, Kerreys liberal ideas are coming with him.

Bob Kerrey is wrong on health care.
Kerrey would not repeal Obama's health care takeover.
Worse, Kerrey wants a single-payer system, which is truly government-run health care with government being the only provider of health care services. If you like making trips to the DMV, working with the IRS or dealing with government bureaucrats then you will love Bob Kerreys health care plans.
