Americans for Prosperity Ad Opposes Medicaid Expansion
*AFP-Nebraska campaign to build grassroots opposition to Medicaid Expansion*
LINCOLN, NE – Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska, a free market advocacy group with over 40,000 members statewide, has launched a media campaign to build grassroots opposition to Sen. Campbell’s LB 577, legislation commonly referred to as Medicaid Expansion.
Today AFP-Nebraska launched a radio ad aimed at educating Nebraskans on the cost of expanding Medicaid, as called for by President Obama.
“Medicaid expansion will cost the federal government $930 billion over ten years, it is wrong for Nebraska state senators to support a law that will increase spending by nearly a trillion dollars. Expanding entitlement spending at a time when we cannot sustain current levels of spending will place the entire Medicaid program at risk and jeopardize our commitment to current enrollees,” said state director Brad Stevens.
“Senators who support Medicaid expansion are agreeing to implement President Obama’s health care reforms that will bust our state budget. For Nebraska, expanded Medicaid spending willcost over $403 million annually, with the state picking up just over $32 million annually. No one knows how Nebraskans are supposed to pay for all this new spending,” continued Stevens.
In addition to radio ads, AFP-Nebraska is launching targeted ads on social media sites such as Facebook and hosting grassroots events in Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Island and Scottsbluff to build statewide opposition to LB 577.
