Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska Supports Gov. Heineman’s Tax Reforms

LINCOLN, NE – Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska, a free market advocacy group with over 40,000 members statewide, strongly supports Gov. Dave Heineman’s call for reforming Nebraska’s tax structure and possible elimination of the state income tax.  The group will hold grassroots events across the state to build support for the governor’s reforms.

“Gov. Heineman is absolutely right that Nebraska families and small businesses are subsidizing special-interest sales tax exemptions through our burdensome state income tax.  Nebraska’s economy would grow even faster and create new, good-paying jobs if the Legislature adopts the governor’s bold tax reform plan,” said state director Brad Stevens.

“The governor laid out two different visions for Nebraska today.  We can either continue being a state that taxes too much to fund an ever-increasing number of government programs, or we can be a state that eliminates the burden on middle class family income.  Nebraskans will overwhelmingly support the governor’s plan,” continued Stevens.

Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska will host grassroots events in Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, Columbus, Grand Island, Kearney and North Platte this month to build statewide support for Gov. Heineman’s tax reform plan.
