AFP Applauds DEQ for Unbiased Final Evaluation of Keystone XL
*Advocacy group encourages Gov. Heineman to approve the Keystone XL pipeline
LINCOLN, NE – Free market advocacy group Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska applauds the state Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for the exceptional work done in preparing the Final Evaluation Report of the Keystone XL pipeline.
“We applaud DEQ for working in a very public, transparent manner to incorporate the concerns of Nebraskans. Because of Nebraska’s unique process, the pipeline’s route has been moved further east to avoid the Sand Hills and strict safety and environmental standards that surpass federal standards have been incorporated,” said state director Brad Stevens
“AFP encourages Gov. Heineman to approve the Keystone XL project. The DEQ report confirms the Keystone XL pipeline is safe. Chapter 6 of the report lays out the 57 Special Conditions the Keystone XL project has agreed to incorporate into the project, with many exceeding existing safety regulations for pipeline construction and maintenance. It is time to build the pipeline and bring good-paying jobs and economic opportunity to Nebraska” continued Stevens.
