Halting expasnion a “victory” for state, relief from law that “simply doesn’t work, says director Litt.
LINCOLN — The Nebraska chapter of Americans for Prosperity, the state’s foremost advocate for health care choice, applauded state senators today for refusing to advance Medicaid expansion legislation (LB 887) in the state.
“Today’s failed cloture vote was a victory for Nebraska,” said AFP-Nebraska State Director Matt Litt. “Through private-option Medicaid waivers, LB 887, known as the WIN Act, would have put thousands of Nebraskans on the ObamaCare exchanges and raided Medicaid funding to do it. ObamaCare has already proven ineffective in providing adequate care to patients at a reasonable cost. The Nebraska Legislature was right to reject voluntary participation with a federal law that simply does not work.
“We all want better health care options that are affordable for all Nebraskans, but ObamaCare and other government-centered programs are not the solution. Stopping the WIN Act will safeguard Nebraskans against untold costs that could be dumped on them by DC politicians as soon as the next inevitable budget crisis.”
