Grassroots Activism Taught to Sold Out Audience in Bozeman
On January 28-29, 2012, AFP Foundation-Montana sponsored a training session for 100 citizens at the Grassroots Activism School in Bozeman. Participants learned essential skills in coalition building, media relations, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment and management.
AFP Foundation members have tremendous passion for liberty and limited government and training opportunities provide a platform for education and networking. A lot of the work we do is based on relationships and the people who attended plan on working closely together to bring fiscal accountability to our state and nation, said Henry Kriegel, Grassroots Coordinator for AFP-Montana. Kriegel aqlso delivered a presentation on Handling a Media Crisis and Prosperity and Economic Freedom.
In addition to the education aspect of the training, participants also had to put their new-found knowledge and refined skills into application. During the interactive sessions, attendees worked together in groups to develop a mock campaign and fundraising events, and a media launch event targeting specific coalitions and their needs.
The winning team received two free registrations to a one week Leadership Institute training session in Washington D.C.
The training session was conducted by the Leadership Institute, experts in the field of grassroots activist education, and was co-sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots and the Montana Tea Party Coalition, and was hosted locally by the Bozeman Tea Party. The event was featured on Montana News Stations across the state including Bozeman, Billings, Butte and Missoula/Kalispell.
A second Grassroots Activist School event is scheduled for April 21-22, in Missoula. Continue to check back for more updates on the event.
