Americans For Prosperity—Montana and the Montana Petroleum Association “Energy for Montana tour” is coming to a city near you bringing you a free screening of the documentary FrackNation and key speakers on what needs to be done to restore the “Treasure State.” The tour will be in Lewistown, Great Falls, Missoula, Helena, Thompson Falls, Kalispell, Bozeman and Billings. (See tour location details below.)
FrackNation is a documentary directed by journalist Phelim McAleer that debunks the myths surrounding fracking. Along with the documentary, the event will feature guest speakers Joe Balyeat, AFP-MT State Director and Jessica Sena, Communications Advisor for the Montana Petroleum Association and local state legislators who will provide an inside look on the policy changes needed to help leverage Montana’s vast energy resources.
North Dakota has more than 180 rigs in operation working the Bakken oil play while Montana has only 11. Wyoming produces 10 times more coal than Montana and generates 10 times more coal-related jobs and revenue despite the Treasure State having cleaner and more abundant coal reserves.
Montana lags far behind North Dakota in oil production and Wyoming in coal and that’s got to change–Joe Balyeat, AFP-Montana State Director and former State Senator.
“Estimates released just last week by the United States Geological Survey indicate that the Bakken and Three Forks Formation under Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota are 7.4 billion barrels of oil (BBO) that we can technically recover—that’s twice the previous estimate,” Balyeat said.
Jessica Sena, Communications Advisor for the Montana Petroleum Association commented: “With the proliferation of false, alarmist rhetoric on hydraulic fracturing, an over 60 year old oil and gas extraction method, the need for facts on the process couldn’t come at a more crucial time. As a nation, we cannot afford to let lies and misinformation be the deciding factor on regulatory decisions concerning energy. We’re on the brink of energy independence and the resurgence of an American manufacturing renaissance. “
Henry Kriegel, AFP-Montana’s Deputy Director says: “This tour is all about ‘we the people.’ The documentary, FrackNation is funded entirely by salt-of-the earth Americans wanting the truth about fracking told. Literally thousands of Montanans would benefit from the Bakken Oil Play with high-paying jobs in Montana just as our North Dakotan neighbors are doing.”
About FrackNation: FrackNation is a grassroots-supported film that challenges the lies and myths perpetrated by the HBO and celebrity-backed film Gasland. It was funded by 3,305 backers on Kickstarter who generously donated $212,265 towards its production. All funds from oil and gas companies or their executives were explicitly rejected. McAleer’s even-keeled manner works well with this emotionally charged issue. In response to his journalistic efforts, McAleer is harassed by environmentalists and threatened with bogus lawsuits. The key issue in FrackNation is not just the environmentalists’ unreasonable alarmism, but its effect on the people who are denied the economic benefits wherever fracking is blocked or delayed.
