Rep. Cierpiot Honored as Defender of Prosperity
Kansas City – Representative Mike Cierpiot graciously accepted his Americans for Prosperity – Missouri Defender of Prosperity award at the Kansas City Pachyderm Club meeting at The Golden Ox located at 1600 Genessee Street #100 in Kansas City at 12:00 pm on July 16th.
Representative Cierpiot received an A (90%) rating on the AFP – MO 2013 Economic Prosperity Report card based on his votes on key issues such as Medicaid Expansion, Paycheck Protection, Common Core, Agenda 21, Transportation Sales Taxes, Utility Surcharges, Prevailing Wage, Tax Reform, & Spending Caps.
Upon accepting his award he spoke to the crowd about how many difficult votes he had to cast in in the name of economic freedom in the 2013 legislative session. Looking ahead to the veto session, Representative Cierpiot said he was hopeful for an override of Governor Nixon’s veto of the first tax reduction in Missouri in over 90 years. He highlighted that this will be a difficult process because the Governor is withholding funds from the neediest Missourians to pressure the General Assembly against a veto override.
“It is an honor to present Representative Cierpiot with the Defender of Prosperity award. Kansas City has a true advocate of economic freedom in Representative Cierpiot. His votes in the 2013 legislative session show his great dedication to the Missouri taxpayer.” Rachel Payton, State Policy Director, Americans for Prosperity.
