Missouri vs. Neighboring States in Economic Growth from 2000 - 2011
St. Louis, MO – Missourians take great pride in their nickname, the Show-Me State. While there are a lot of stories and legends behind the origin of the slogan, the truth is, Missourians must see to believe.
Therefore we wanted to highlight a graph every Missourian needs to see.
It shows that Missouri is behind every neighboring state in economic growth over the last decade…even Illinois!
Missouri hasn’t taken the necessary steps to be an economic powerhouse, while our neighbors have made sweeping reforms that their families, taxpayers, and businesses are seeing the rewards from.
Oklahoma has experienced record growth due to its income tax cuts between 2005 and 2012; Kansas slashed taxes by $3.7 billion over five years; and Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is proposing a $2 billion cut in property taxes.
As our neighbors continue to make great strides in the way of economic growth, Governor Nixon has traveled throughout Missouri bragging out his veto of the first tax cut Missouri has seen in over 90 years.
