Franklin County to Cut Back Jobs Due to ObamaCare
Franklin County, MO – First businesses, now counties report the intent to cut back workers hours to be spared from ObamaCare mandates.
Recently The Missourian newspaper reported that Franklin County, Missouri plans to cut back temporary employees hours from 30 to 27 to avoid providing cost restrictive healthcare insurance.
The county is currently looking at what measures will lead to cost saving efforts. These cutbacks may cause the county to hire two part time employees instead of one full time worker. This process may lead to more workers who can file for unemployment. County Counselor Mark Vincent sums it up best when he says, “The Affordable Care Act is going to cost a lot of people their jobs across the country.”
Recently a US Chamber of Commerce study found that 74% of small businesses would lay off workers due to ObamaCare and Kansas City’s Superior Linen & Supply company would make nearly $20 million worth of cuts due to the lower payments that are part of the President’s healthcare plan.
AFP – MO State Director, Patrick Werner said, “We are starting to see the tip of the iceberg when it comes to job cuts and reduced employee hours due to Obamacare. Laying off workers and cutting back hours will lead more Americans to government assistance; not the road to prosperity.”
Werner added, “Missourians have made it very clear they are opposed to the Affordable Care Act’s mandates on individuals and businesses.” On two separate occasions, Missourians first overwhelmingly rejected Obamacare at the voting booth in 2010 and then again in 2012 by rejecting the expansion of the federal program in MO via the federal government health insurance exchanges.
